Welcome to Another Reading and Writing with Purpose book club! In this book club, we will meet eight times to discuss our books. We will read one book a week, and students will respond with a written reading response each time we meet and be ready to discuss the stories with their peers. Students will be encouraged to think deeper about what they read and to write their own thoughts down to share with the class. I will provide clear instructions on each week's reading response. My main goal...
Book clubs in middle school and high school are a great way to teach students to form and share opinions with others which is an important skill to have as they get older. I run all book clubs so every student is able to answer questions that I pose and participate in the lively discussion. I am also aware that some students prefer to participate through chat than on a microphone. This is completely acceptable. My goal for the students is to get them to share their thoughts in whatever way they feel comfortable doing that.
I am passionate about books and have been running book clubs for homeschoolers for over ten years. Book clubs are a great way to prepare for high school level analysis and teach students how to articulate their thoughts about what they have read. And I love graphic novels and hopefully, by the end of this course, your student will too!

Please look up the books before enrolling your student to make sure the choices will be a good match for your student and family. These books are upper-middle grade level and have themes on target with that age group. Please note in Crossing the Stream an animal dies.
