Hello everyone!

In this one-time class, students will learn all about the tiny, big-eared, desert-dwelling fennec fox! Students will learn about the physical characteristics, habitat, behavior, diet, and conservation status of this unique animal. They will also learn zoological vocabulary words such as “omnivore” “canine,” “habitat,” and more.

First, I will present the scientific information via Google Slides. This presentation incorporates facts, illustrations, maps, short video clips, and plenty of photos. There will also be opportunities for students to interact, ask questions, answer questions, and discuss as they learn.

After learning all about fennec foxes, students will complete a drawing of a fennec fox by following a live, step-by-step demonstration. I will demonstrate the drawing process by using a second camera. If students prefer not to draw along with me, they may color the printable coloring pages instead. (Two printable coloring pages and a fact sheet will be available to download from the classroom page.)

Lastly, if time permits, students will have the opportunity to test their fennec fox knowledge with a short trivia game.

Students will also have the chance to share their artwork at the end of the lesson if they would like to do so.

The class structure will be as follows:

1. We’ll say hello! We’ll also briefly discuss the classroom expectations.
2. I will present the information via Google Slides, and we’ll discuss as we learn. (25-35 minutes)
3. I will lead the students through a guided, step-by-step drawing of a fennec fox. Students may choose to draw along or color the printout illustrations. (10-15 minutes)
3. If time permits, we’ll review what we’ve learned with a short trivia game.
4. Students will have an opportunity to share their art.
5. We’ll say goodbye!

Please note that students may have time to color their artwork in class, but the amount of coloring time depends on the amount of time we spend on instruction and discussion.

No previous experience or knowledge is required. I hope to see you soon!

Because this is a science-based class about animals, I will be mentioning the fact that some animals hunt and eat other animals; however, there will be no graphic images, graphic videos, or graphic descriptions. Google Slides will be used to present the information and images to the learners. I will be using the screen-share function to present to the class. Learners will not need to have their own Google Slides accounts.

Hello!

Welcome to my Outschool teacher page! My name is Alissa Agostini, and I live in Milwaukee, USA. I have been teaching online since 2017, and so far, I’ve taught over 7000 online reading and English classes. Before that, I taught in the classroom as a middle school language arts and literature teacher. In my eight years of teaching experience, I’ve worked with large classes, I’ve worked in one-on-one tutoring sessions, and I’ve worked with students of all ages, from 4 up to 16. No matter who I am teaching or where I am teaching, I strive to create a positive, encouraging, and welcoming atmosphere. I always teach with kindness, energy, and enthusiasm. My goal is to teach in a way that promotes a lifelong love of learning.

In my previous traditional teaching experiences, I realized that students do not always have the opportunity to explore their passions and interests, so I joined Outschool, and I set out to create lessons about a variety of topics about which I myself am passionate. I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, so I combined my research and writing skills with my love for art to create vibrant ebooks that I use for my lessons. My lessons give students the opportunity to explore interests while learning new facts and practicing valuable skills. Additionally, many of my lessons incorporate coloring, drawing, or creative writing.

So far, I have created a series of classes about cute wild animals (I’ve always been a huge animal lover!), but I am in the process of writing more lessons about additional topics. If your learner just wants some time to relax and get creative, I also offer step-by-step drawing classes. Check back soon for more class offerings!

Thank you for checking out my teacher profile. I can’t wait to meet your learner in my Outschool classroom! Have a lovely day!

-Ms. Alissa
