This class is tailored specifically to individual students. In this class, students will learn some of the following concepts as applicable to their individual needs as well as when and how long they attend the class: 

1) Identify and insert appropriate punctuation
2) Identify and use proper capitalization
3) Demonstrate proper letter spacing
4) Identify and describe parts of speech (common nouns, proper nouns, action verbs, linking verbs, helping verbs)
5) Recall phonics to build spelling skills
6) Strength fine-motor skills through coloring and artwork
7) Build confidence in expressing their own thoughts and ideas
8) Develop a writing voice
9) Demonstrate subject-verb agreement
10) Demonstrate proper writing formatting
11) Identify parts of a letter
12) Identify and describe 6 key story parts (setting, characters, problem, events, solution, and moral)
13) Create original fiction and non-fiction narratives
14) Create opinion pieces
15) Create friendly letters
16) Create non-fiction informative stories

I completed formal training in Writer's Workshop while teaching 2nd grade and loved implementing it in my classroom! Friday morning story-sharing is the BEST!!! :)
