Class Description 🌟 Fun, Engaging, and Challenging Math for Young Problem Solvers! 🌟 Designed for students who enjoy thinking outside the box, this class introduces competition-style problems and puzzles from contests like Math Kangaroo and Math Olympiad (Levels 1 & 2). Students will develop confidence, logical thinking, and creative problem-solving skills through engaging discussions, hands-on problem-solving, and interactive activities. ---- What We Cover Week 1: Number and Shape Patterns Week 2: Logic Puzzles and Addition/Subtraction Week 3: Time and Multiplication/Division Week 4: Number Properties, Algebra, Area/Perimeter ---- Who Is This Class For? This class is best suited for students in grades 1-2 who: ✅ Are ready to explore challenging math puzzles in a fun, engaging way. ✅ Enjoy math discussions and problem-solving. ✅ Have strong reading comprehension skills to interpret word problems. ✅ Are excited to participate in math competitions like Math Kangaroo. If your child prefers step-by-step direct instruction, they may benefit from starting with our Singapore Math classes before joining this competition class. ---- Class Highlights 🎯 Hands-On Learning – Students actively solve problems and discuss their thinking with the class. 🧠 Critical Thinking Focus – Develop problem-solving techniques for tricky competition-style questions. 🤝 Collaborative & Interactive – Work with peers in breakout rooms or class discussions. ❌ No Fear of Mistakes! – This is a challenge-based class where students learn by trying new approaches. ---- Class Experience This is a working session where students solve 7-10 competition-style problems per class. 🔹 Try It First! – Students will attempt problems independently before we discuss solutions. 🔹 Guided Discussion – The teacher will break down solutions step by step while encouraging students to explain their thinking. 🔹 Group Learning – Students share their strategies with classmates, building confidence in problem-solving. This class is not a lecture-based course. Instead, it's a space for students to think critically, take risks, and grow their math intuition in a fun, engaging environment. Shy students may listen and participate via chat, while outgoing students can actively discuss their solutions. We design and provide all materials to enhance teaching instruction. Occasionally there will be an optional activity that students can do before class. Then, we start each class with an investigation that gets them thinking about the application of math in real life.

We offer 2 different types of math classes that help students engage and learn math at a deeper and advanced level: Singapore Math Classes and Competition Math classes.
Foster your student's love for math through our Singapore Math classes using our Hello Math! Curriculum. Our signature Singapore Math approach helps students build a solid math foundation that will boost students' confidence. Our kind teachers help break down complex math topics in ways that help students to grow and succeed.
Our Competition Math classes encourages critical thinking. Students learn different ways to problem-solve challenging questions and share solutions with their classmates. Our patient teachers guide students if they get stuck. It's a class best taken in conjunction with our Singapore Math classes.
My name is Ingrid, and I am the owner of Tampa Bay Test Prep. I have a BA in mathematics from UC Berkeley, an M.Ed from Holy Names University, and am certified in Mathematics at the middle school and high school levels (California, Florida). I have over 18 years of tutoring and teaching. Our organization is special in that we build our own curriculum so every worksheet you see in our program is tailored to help your student develop long-term success!
My fellow teachers include Math, Computer Science, Engineering, and Physics majors with a love of mathematics, as well as experienced teachers! Together we want to give your student a strong foundation in mathematics and mathematical thinking.
We also offer one on one lessons where students can meet with teachers one on one to get extra help or personalized help, a student-focused plan, tailored assignments, and more. Occasionally we offer SAT/ACT Math Test Prep from our perfect scorer so please message us if you are interested.

She specializes in Elementary Education and teaches our Singapore Math Method Classes for grades 1-4, and Competition Math for grades 1 and 2.

He has a Ph.D. in Engineering and has spent many years teaching high school math and tutoring privately. He teaches our competition math and one on ones.
Teacher Allison
She double majored in Mathematics and Physics and teaches math competition level classes for grades 5 through 8, as well as one on ones for Singapore Math Methods and Competition Math.
Teacher Raymond
He majored in Mechanical Engineering at Purdue. He obtained a perfect score on his ACT test. He teaches ACT science and ACT and SAT mathematics to students who score above a 30 on the ACT or a 700 on SAT Math and how to boost their scores.
Teacher Derek
He has a BA in math from the University of Chicago and seven years of experience tutoring math. He teaches Competition Math for grades 5-6.
Teacher Kaya
Kaya Chua is a proud Stanford alumna with a degree in mathematics. She has a decade of experience tutoring math at all levels, including coaching students for the AMC and AIME competitions.
