Class Overview
   * This fun and interactive reading comprehension class will take children on an adventure across some of the world’s most fascinating places, inspired by the Where Is? book series. Each class is a journey where we’ll explore famous landmarks, mysterious locations, and even outer space! Through reading comprehension games, hands-on science experiments, and creative art activities, students will develop a love for reading while learning about incredible places.




What Will Be Taught? (these are some examples of some topics that could be covered in class)
   * Reading comprehension skills (main idea, sequencing, inference, vocabulary)
   * Geography and history of famous places
   * Science and engineering behind historical sites and natural wonders
   * Creativity through hands-on projects related to the place of the day
   * Topics Covered (Featured Locations)

Each class will focus on one famous place from the Where Is? book series:
   * Eiffel Tower – The engineering marvel of Paris
   * Walt Disney World – The most magical place on Earth
   * Easter Island – The mystery of the Moai statues
   * Chichén Itzá – The Mayan pyramid and ancient civilization
   * The Great Wall of China – One of the world’s greatest architectural achievements
   * The Colosseum – The grand arena of ancient Rome
   * Stonehenge – The prehistoric stone circle mystery
   * The Galápagos Islands – The birthplace of Charles Darwin’s evolution theory
   * The North Pole – A frozen world of adventure and exploration
   * Our Solar System – A journey beyond Earth into space
Each lesson will explore not only where these places are but also their significance, mysteries, and impact on the world today!





Class Structure

      Reading Comprehension Game 
          * Fun activity to check understanding of key facts from the book
          Examples:
              - Eiffel Tower: Engineering challenge – true or false?
              - Walt Disney World: "Fact or Fantasy?" Disney trivia
              - Easter Island: Moai statue puzzle game
              - Chichén Itzá: Mayan calendar decoding
              - Great Wall of China: "Build the Wall" stacking game
              - Colosseum: Gladiator trivia battle
              - Stonehenge: Mystery riddle challenge
              - Galápagos Islands: Evolution survival game
              - North Pole: Arctic animal matching
              - Solar System: Planet-order relay race

      Hands-On Activity
          * Art & Craft Project (e.g. using marshmallows and graham crackers to build a mini Stonehenge, testing balance and structure or building an igloo using sugar cubes, sculpting their own Moai head statues using modeling clay or carve small ones out of soap)
          OR
          * Science Experiment (e.g. testing how ice melts in different conditions, making a simple rocket for Our Solar System, exploring ice and insulation for the North Pole)

      Wrap-Up & Discussion 
          *Reflect on what we learned
          *Encourage children to explore more books from the Where Is? series
