👋🏼 Welcome to my classroom! 👋🏼 This is an ongoing class so feel free to pop in and out as your schedule allows! In this ongoing class, students will practice their reading comprehension skills by reading a fiction or non-fiction passage, highlighting or underlining key information in the text, and then answering questions about the text in constructed response and multiple choice formats. Class Structure: ...
Each week focuses on one main standard while also incorporating a variety of comprehension skills. Students will: ✏️ Read with sufficient accuracy and fluency to support comprehension. ✏️ Refer to details and examples in a text when explaining what the text says explicitly and when drawing inferences from the text. ✏️ Determine a theme of a story, drama, or poem from details in the text; summarize the text. ✏️ Use context to confirm or self-correct word recognition and understanding, rereading as necessary. ✏️ Compare and contrast the point of view from which different stories are narrated, including the difference between first- and third-person narrations. ✏️ Determine the meaning of words and phrases as they are used in a text. ✏️ Describe in depth a character, setting, or event in a story or drama, drawing on specific details in the text (e.g., a character's thoughts, words, or actions).
I have nearly a decade of teaching experience in various settings. I've taught in the brick-and-mortar setting as well as online. Writing is a topic that I am personally passionate about. While working in the brick-and-mortar school setting, I would frequently work 1:1 with special needs students to help them become better writers and accomplish the goals outlined in their IEP's. My degrees/certifications are: • Associate's degree in Early Childhood Education • Bachelors degree in Elementary Education
