In this engaging ongoing comprehension class, students will learn to read for comprehension using the big five comprehension skills with fiction and nonfiction passages. At the beginning of class, I will introduce the focus skill(s) for the day and establish a clear purpose for reading. We will do some pre-reading activities, and then we will read the passage together. In this engaging ongoing class, learners read for comprehension covering the big five comprehension skills: Main Idea and Key Details, Sequencing, Direct Recall, Inferences and/or Predictions, and Unfamiliar Vocabulary.
No handouts are needed before class, but I will upload the story (and sometimes questions) after class each week so the students can practice reading it throughout the week!
