Learners will analyze primary source documents and answer comprehension questions based on a primary source. These activities should not take more than one hour to complete학습 평가
Learners will be assessed informally in each class through verbal comprehension checks and class discussion. Each class will begin with a quick review of the activities from the previous week's class to ensure students understood the material. Join me as we examine the immediate impact of the Civil War on the United States, the various perspectives on how to reunify the country, and the lasting legacy of the successes and failures of Reconstruction. This course will be taught using visual aids via PowerPoint in a lecture-based format. Students will be expected to ask questions and discuss the material we are covering as a group. During the 50-minute class periods, students should expect to answer questions to check their understanding and participate in class discussions. The last week of the course will be the unit test in the form of an interactive game of Kahoot. This is an introductory class, so students do not need to have any background knowledge coming into class! Week 1: How to Reunify? (different plans for reunification, Wade-Davis Plan) Week 2: Challenges to a Successful Reconstruction (Freedmen's Bureau, 13th - 15th amendments, the assassination of Lincoln, the challenges of the Johnson administration, Hiram Revels, Blanch K. Bruce, Robert Elliot) Week 3: The End of Reconstruction (Election of 1876, K.K.K, Jim Crow, Plessy v.s Ferguson, the legacy of Reconstruction Week 4: Kahoot Assessment

Following the end of Reconstruction, there are numerous attempts made to suppress the voting and civil rights of African-Americans by groups such as the Ku Klux Klan. These actions will be discussed in the third week of the course.
This course utilizes Kahoot as a means of assessing student understanding of the stated learning goals.

I am a licensed middle school and high Social Studies teacher in the state of Ohio. I have been teaching Social Studies to middle and high school students for the last four years. I have used this same lesson with students in the classroom and it has always been highly engaging. I also have a Bachelor's degree in both Education and History.
