Reading comprehension is essential, particularly as a child approaches middle school age since much course work will be accomplished independently. This class focuses on improving reading ability by using phonics to decode words, reading more fluently through repetition, and improving comprehension skills. TYPICAL CLASS ROUTINE:
Greeting/Get to know you time
Class time, including teaching of given topic and practice of that skill
Closing which may include a puppet, a game, or show and tell, depending on the type of class your learner is taking. My goal is to have every child smiling and excited to return to the next class!

27 years of brick and mortar classroom experience

I try to keep students engaged through a mix of hands on teaching and great student interaction. I enjoy learning about each child and making a connection that makes them want to return to class!

When I'm not in the classroom, I love to spend time outside walking or working in my yard, reading, or spending time with friends. I also like to bake bread and make cookies.
