A heavy emphasis will be placed on teaching students that they have control.  
They can control their experience on social media by doing the following: Only following positive influences, avoiding negative content and only engaging in positive activities on social media.  We will spend some thoroughly going over each of these strategies using specific examples and real life application.  Up next will be the importance of being mindful of how much time you spend on social media.  We will finish the class by reviewing the key points. 
I have been a teacher, tutor and coach for over 30 years.  I have taught many computer technology classes to both middle and high school students.  I have also crafted and delivered internet safety and social media safety courses for various ages over the years.  This is an important topic and I feel that any opportunity students have to learn about social media and internet safety will benefit them.
