Does your child have a favorite author yet? Have you read books by Eric Carle? Mo Willems? David Shannon? Maybe your child will find their new favorite book and author in this class! The format of this class with be AUTHOR STUDIES. This means we will look primary at the author, his or her works, a bit of his or her biography, and unique features or styles in his or her writing. We will focus on one author for four to five weeks (one month). However, each class will be different and...

Students will attend to a story being read to them, actively listening. Students will answer comprehension questions about the story. Students will discuss their favorite parts of the story. Students will act out portions of different stories. Students will understand what an author is. Students will be able to name their favorite author. Students will read (listen to) multiple books by the same author, looking for similarities. Students will compare different authors, noting similarities and differences.
