수업 소개
Through a combination of lecture and discussion, students will learn about the artist Pablo Picasso. We will follow his timeline as he experimented with different styles and pioneered movements. We will discuss how he broke down the items he painted into their basic shapes and pieces. From his early Blue and Rose Periods to his exploration into the African Period, development of cubism, surrealism, and beyond. This class will look at some of his most well-known works of art as we try to understand the artist who created so much in so many styles. Students will discuss why they think Pablo moved from style to style experimenting instead of staying with one style that could dominate his art career. Pablo Picasso is one of the best-known artists in history and this class will help students understand why.

I have taught art history to college students for a number of years. This course is a simplified lesson I give to my older students that helps them see the work of Pablo in a timeline. Looking at his work in a line shows the different movements and styles he was experimenting with and where the styles begin to cross over. This course does contain paintings with suggestions of violence. Guernica (1937). We discuss how he simplified the human form, evidence of both African influence and cubism help us to still understand the human figure. Violence often inspires art and we will briefly review the historical inspiration. We will spend time focusing on his different landscapes and portraits to truly understand his transitions between movements and styles he was mastering.리뷰
