수업 소개
Welcome to this thorough and exciting photography course! This course caters for both phone camera photography, and DSLR photography, delving into the processes and skills needed for both. Over the the course of 8 sessions, students will be given photography challenges and portfolio tasks, along with guidance and instruction on how to develop their skills through the challenges. Each session, students will receive: - a 20-30 minute video lesson on photography, including techniques, composition, and editing, and simple exercises to practise these. - a photography portfolio task for students to complete, with detailed guidance on what is expected, how they can plan their project, and how to edit it down to a final image or images. - appraisal and feedback on their photography submissions - both private and public feedback. By the end of 8 sessions, students will have built a portfolio of photography, and will have experimented with various elements of photography. Students will engage in photography projects which will shape their understanding of image composition, lighting, texture, depth, and documentation. Students will engage in 2 "Theme Week" projects, which will allow them to apply many of the techniques and skills we have been learning. These theme weeks give students more freedom of choice and the opportunity to break out their creativity and develop their own personal style further. Here is a sample of the topics we will cover on this course: (Please note these may be adapted as the course progresses) Week 1 - Basic image composition Week 2 - Aperture Week 3 - Photoshoot - Theme Week #1 Week 4 - Exposure Week 5 - Monochrome Week 6 - Reflections - Theme Week #2 Week 7 - Documentary Photography Week 8 - From selfies to self-portrait As this is not a live class, students should actively engage in classroom activities throughout the week: Students are required to submit at least one of their project images to the classroom for each session. Students are expected to critique the work of at least one other students. I will give specific and direct feedback on their submission, privately in their own learner chat. Students will require digital photography editing software, such as Adobe Photoshop, or Affinity Photo, to complete this course. Alternatives to these software are fine, however the editing software MUST be able to adjust the lighting, aperture, exposure, colour, and composition of images. I will be using Photoshop in the teaching videos, and this can be purchased as a bundle with Lightroom. I will also be using Affinity Photo, which is approximately $50 for a one-time purchase.
학습 목표

I worked as a photographer for 5 years, and began my career at a young age, taking black and white photographs, then playing around further with exposure and composition in my home darkroom. As the world moved on into digital realms, I too made the switch from film and darkroom, to digital files, and editing on Photoshop and Lightroom. My photography work led me eventually into Graphic Design, taking the skills I had in manipulating digital images, and applying it to various media projects.
