Sometimes children get stuck in the "perfection zone" which can lead either to an aversion to new tasks, temper outbursts or withdrawal. This course will use the book "Excellent Ed" by Stacy McAnulty and Julia Sarcone-Roach to teach children some coping skills to use when they get stuck. The course will begin with introductions and sharing "good things". Children love to talk about their lives, pets and families. Students will leave this class having learned and practiced several coping skills that they can use when they get stuck in the "perfection zone."
I have a master's degree in special education with an emphasis in behavior, and I teach daily social skills in my brick-and-mortar school.
I will email all materials to the students before class begins. Additionally, learners will need a writing utensil.
This class is not designed to be therapeutic, and at no time will I be leading discussions involving any learner's personal situations.
