I am a certified teacher in various subjects and have taught these topics and standards for years. I will be aligning these lessons with state standards and GED, but making it hands-on and fun. These topics are also vital for your student's education. This is structured as a lecture base class with questions, discussion, videos, but a lot of content coming from me on the topic. I provide a TON of resources for you to further topics at home! This is a 6 week class that will run and only run through the summer. 

Each week, I will teach a lesson and then provide plenty of materials for you to choose from at home, along with videos and notes from class. Most weeks we will also be doing experiments in class, but I provide a lot for out of class as well. I will post the supplies list after the first class so you have everything for the class. All resources will be in a Google folder including a master supply list. I will provide this link after the first class as well. Nothing is needed for the first class. This class is a BLAST!

Week 2 - Experiment in class on Elephant Toothpaste and a Rubber Egg and and experiment at home of your choice from my list. 
Week 3 - Experiment at home from my list. 
Week 4 - Experiment in class for Thermal Energy and experiment at home of your choice from my list. 
Week 5 - Experiment in class on Light and Sound Waves and experiment at home of your choice from my list.
Week 6 - Experiment in class on Static Electricity and experiment at home of your choice from my list.  


***Please note the following before you enroll:

1. This class has a lot of information. Some weeks have more discussion, and some weeks have more instruction from me, but we make it fun. Due to the fact many students learn differently, I use a mix of written information and videos. I also include some trivia questions in some weeks. 

2. Please let your student know I often have a lot to cover. I will ask questions and they are welcome to comment, but please keep questions and comments directed to the topic we are covering. 

3. This class fills quickly. If you have to miss class, message me instead of un-enrolling. I cannot promise your spot will be open when you come back. I offer at least one week in the entire session that you can skip class and get a refund while staying enrolled and holding your spot. 

4. This class bills on Sundays. Please ensure your payment method is solid. The reason for this is because every Sunday the system will withdraw students due to processing errors. If this happens, I try and send a reminder, but often students lose spots and I cannot open more. Please ensure this does not happen if you want to keep your spot. :)

5. If you are not in actual attendance for 3 weeks in a row, the system will withdraw you.




SUPPLIES

Week 2 – Chemical Reactions 

Supply List 
1st experiment Supplies 
• 1 Egg 
• 1 Cup or Glass (large enough to hold your egg and vinegar)
• Vinegar (distilled or apple cider will work)

2nd Experiment Supplies 
• Empty water or soda bottle (cut top off) - 16oz Bottle is Recommended 
• An extra cup (needs to be normal size drinking cup)
• Large bowl
• Large tray or pan to go UNDER the bowl
• Spoon to stir 
• Towel or paper towels
• Measuring cups and spoons (1 Cup and 1 Tablespoon)
• Hydrogen Peroxide (1 Cup or MORE)
• Dry Yeast (can be found online or at the store) THIS IS NEEDED - You need 3 TABLESPOONS at least.
• Dish soap of any kind 
• Average Temp Water  - NOT COLD
• Food color (OPTIONAL - any color and you can use two)  

Week 4 - Energy

Thermal Energy Experiment
• Ice (any kind works and you can keep in freezer until experiment time)
• Two bowls
• Latex Balloon (large is fine)
• Empty water bottle - Needs to be thinner plastic. This won't work with think water bottles. 
• Water (we will put hot water in one and ice water in the other when we do the experiment at the end of class)

Week 5 - Waves 

Light Experiment Supplies

• Water in another container 
• Small plate or saucer

Sound Experiment Supplies 
• Clear glass 
• Water in another container (they can use the same from the previous experiment) • Plastic straw
