In this class, students will listen to and analyze Norwegian folklore in the form of folk tales, fairy tales, and mythology. We will identify the following in each story: the setting, the archetypal characters & situations, the plot, themes, the conflict, motifs, and more. We will learn about the elements to look for when deciding if a story is a folk tale, a fairy tale, or something else. Students will begin to see emerging patterns and characteristics in these various stories that span...
Students will learn how to analyze literature by listening to and responding to fairy tales & folk tales and develop their ability to make connections between the stories of various cultures and time periods.
I am a certified teacher with seven years' experience in teaching public school. I am currently working on my MA in English. I am a homeschool educator of sixteen years. I taught literature classes at a local homeschool co-op. I have taken several mythology, folklore & fairy tale classes. I am currently a literature, mythology, & folklore presenter with Professional Home Educator. I am also a teacher member of the Folger Shakespeare Library.
