Want to make a mummy? In this class, we will take a trip to ancient Egypt and learn all about the mummification process by mummifying a doll or large action figure! Learners will be introduced to the role of mummies in ancient Egypt. They will then be led step by step through the mummification process, while acting out each step on their own doll. I am an elementary school educator who has taught classes about ancient civilizations to students, including this specific lesson. I have also taken courses to learn more about ancient Egypt.
Learners will need a doll or large action figure they will not mind permanently turning into a mummy. They will also need a shoebox or other small box, markers, paper, modelling clay, a cloth or sponge, vinegar, cooking oil, spices of any kind, salt, white fabric (linen or muslin works well), flour, and a bowl.
