This is an ongoing session course. Students will be creating a short story and creating an illustration to accompany their written piece. This is a lecture-style course with Q and A between the teacher and peers. There will be some dialogue between the learners and the teacher bouncing off story ideas during the class session. Students will be able to demonstrate an understanding of characters, setting, plot, problem, and solution. Students should have a basic understanding of the knowledge of the parts of a story. Learners do not need much experience in creating a story as they will be taught during the course the mechanics of basic story writing.

수업 자료

Learners will need to bring a notepad or, paper, pencil/pens, colored pencils, or crayons in the class sessions. During each session, the learners will be writing down pieces of their stories and illustrations during the class sessions. The items listed for supplies are usually found at home, but if for some reason a learner does not have access to them at home, you can purchase them at a local Dollar Store such as the Dollar Tree for $1.00 per item, or their local area Target/Walmart or Big Lots store for around $5.00 depending on their location.

I have worked with students in the Florida Public School System for over 20 years. I have taught in all the core subject areas in elementary education. My experience ranges from remedial to gifted. Two years ago, I began tutoring online and focused on my passion. My online teaching experience has provided me an opportunity to find alternative ways to communicate and teach students effectively.
 My classroom focuses on the individual student, and their success is of my utmost importance. With such an extensive teaching background, I have learned strategies to make material adaptive when needed through presentation methods and delivery of material. I work to maintain a line of open communication with parents so that all students may succeed.
I am always learning and bettering myself. I enjoy swimming, reading, cooking, baking, taking photos, trying new foods, and traveling to new places.
