읽는 법을 배우세요! 소리 섞기/음성 읽기 수업

I LOVE teaching children how to read!  I am a certified elementary school teacher with many years of experience of teaching kindergarten in a public school system.  For the past few years, I have been enjoying teaching children how to read here on Outschool!

This is a phonics based reading class that aligns with the Science of Reading.  The reading skills that I will teach in this class will help build a solid foundation that learners will be able to use to read longer words in the future.

The class will include the following:

1.  a "would you rather" question as an introduction and way to get to know each other

2.  reading instruction - I will teach a simple and effective way to sound out words and blend the sounds together.  Each week we will focus on a different short vowel sound.

3.  reading practice & a fun game - learners will take turns sounding out/reading words while playing a fun and interactive game.  Each week we will play a new game!

4.  reading a story together!  Each learner will have the opportunity to read a page in a short story about an animal! (the story will focus on the short vowel sound we are focusing on that week.) I will provide support and guidance as needed.

Week 6 (the last class) will be a mixed vowel review class!  We will practice reading words with all 5 short vowel sounds.  I have a fun game planned for this week that I hope your child will enjoy!  And we will read a story with mixed cvc vowel sounds.

I have created 2 cvc record sheets for your child to complete throughout this 6 week class to keep track of their progress and the vowel sounds they have learned.  One of the record sheets is an animal theme and the other is a space theme.  If possible, please print one of them for your child to complete as they go through the class with me.
