주당 1시간. Students are encouraged to practice their skills outside of class time. This can include practice using provided decodable texts, fluency activities, or high frequency word (“heart words”) lists. Digital materials will be provided.
학습 평가
The student will be assessed during the first session to identify their present levels and areas for growth. Informal assessments will be completed during ongoing sessions to adjust instruction as needed. Formal assessments will be used every 4-6 weeks to chart the student’s growth and will be shared with the family.

수업 소개

In this ongoing private class, students will focus on learning to read and spell using scientifically proven phonics techniques. During the first session, I will assess your student’s current reading, spelling, and phonological skills in order to develop a curriculum plan tailored to their current level and needs. Sessions will meet students where they are, from learning letter sounds to forming complex multisyllabic words and anywhere in between. Build your child’s confidence and foster a love of reading!

Each ongoing lesson will include multi-sensory activities, games, and other techniques supported by the Science of Reading and will follow a consistent routine, including some or all of the following lesson parts:
1. Phonological warm-up: identify, break apart, and change sounds in heard words.
2. Grapheme warm-up: review sounds of letters and groups of letters (digraphs, vowel teams, etc). 
3. Focus concept: introduce or review focus concept for the lesson.
4. Heart words: introduce and review high frequency words using “heart words” strategy.
5. Segmenting and blending activities: break apart and sound out new words. 
Word building activities: form words using taught letters and groups of letters. 
6. Dictation activities: write dictated words and sentences.
7. Decoding activities: read texts that include taught word and sound patterns and “heart words.”
8. Comprehension activities: form responses to decodable texts.

-Dry erase board or sleeve - sleeves preferred over typical dry erase board so students can practice writing with printed handwriting guideline sheets or other templates slid into the sleeve 
-Whiteboard/dry-erase markers and eraser
-Ability to print templates/worksheets on occasion

-Primary Composition Notebook with handwriting lines 
-Square Pop-It (5x5 grid or larger)
-Counters or other small manipulatives (pennies, beads, or other small countable items)
