*blending letter sounds (reading) *segmenting letter sounds (spelling) *new phonics concepts *practicing the new concept in both reading and spelling formats *review of previously taught concepts to retain what has been learned in previous lessons This class is quick paced and it builds on previous lessons. I like to keep things lighthearted and positive. There is a place for making errors and risk-taking. We learn from our mistakes. I create a caring atmosphere for children to feel comfortable to learn to read. There is lots of interaction, some instruction, lots of practice and some games. If the parents want a take-home practice I can make that available as well.
