In this class, students will learn how to simplify/reduce fractions in a simple way. Students should already know the multiplication facts up to 6 x 12. We will begin by playing a multiplication game to review the multiplication facts. Students should have some prior knowledge of a fraction. The terms numerator and denominator will be discussed and identified. After the review, I will write fractions on the whiteboard and then show the students how to simplify each fraction using the I do, we do, you do strategy. The students will be given the opportunity to solve problems on the whiteboard to show understanding of the skill.
