Each week will start with introductions and an overview of the design, patterns, and shapes for our optical art-inspired drawing. Artists will be shown live, step-by-step, how to compose the drawing. We will have fun composing a new piece with different combinations of lines and see how they come together for the overall design. We will also see how the negative space is equally important as the positive space! We may even add color! All learners work at a different pace and some designs...

My goal is for artists to experience the fun of creating impressive designs each week inspired by optical art using simple tools and techniques
I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from UCLA and spent my first 10 years out of college working with professional designers and photographers in the publishing world. I was exposed to an eclectic variety of art media and styles. I have always been drawn to abstract and graphic art, so I have enjoyed incorporating it into my own portfolio, no matter the media I used. I love how these designs play tricks on your eyes. It has been fun to learn more about these and now share it with new artists!

You will need: -Pencil -Bar eraser -White paper -Black Ultrafine Sharpie -Black Fine Sharpie -Colored pencils and markers -Sharpener -Ruler *Having a good black marker is important for this class.
