It is so important to develop strong communication skills at an early age. Many preteens and teens are anxious about meeting and talking to others. The goal is for students to learn how to comfortably communicate with other kids in a group setting. This will include introductions, starting a conversation, actively listening, asking questions to get to know other kids, and leaving the conversation. The goal is to do this in a relaxed, fun, group setting, much like one would encounter while just hanging out with friends. This is a "safe-zone." That means there is no bullying or judgement allowed. The goal is for the kids to be present and focus on interactions.
This class is designed for students to be comfortable having conversations with each other. Many kids have anxiety about talking to and interacting with others their age. This is to be engaging and interactive through conversation. Please consider this, especially if your child gets particularly nervous about interacting with others. No bullying or judgment of any kind will be tolerated.
