Children will be encouraged throughout this class to use their imagination to create a leprechaun trap. Students are able to wear green to this class or even come to class dressed as a leprechaun. Students will use the engineering design process to create a trap that will catch a leprechaun. Students will use their imagination to create a trap. Students will also use their speaking skills to share how they created their leprechaun traps during the second class.

Class 1 Materials: -paper -pencil -crayons/colored pencils -How To Trap a Leprechaun by Sue Fliess Published by Skyhorse Publishing (This is not required to participate in class, but if you would like to purchase for students to follow along during class) Homework Materials: (these are possible materials students could use to create their leprechaun traps) Students are able to find any other materials around the house or even in the recycling bin! -Cardboard box, tissue box, shoe box, cereal box -Cardboard tubes (toilet paper rolls, paper towel rolls) -Glue -Scissors -Tape -Empty and clean yogurt containers -Pipe cleaners -Popsicle sticks -String -Aluminum foil -Glitter -Lucky charms cereal -Anything St. Patricks Day related (shamrocks, coins) -Anything green -Construction paper -These are just some possible ideas! Students are able to use whatever materials they would like to build and create their leprechaun traps! Class 2 Materials: -Bring your completed leprechaun trap to class to share! -Paper, pencil, and crayons/colored pencils (if there is time students will participate in a directed drawing)
