The History Herald: Monsters and Creatures of History, Myth, and Legend Extra! Extra! Learn All About It! In this ongoing course, students will travel back in time to explore the mysterious, dangerous, weird, and unique monsters and creatures that make up the stories of history, myth, and legend. Did you know that Werewolves were actually honored knights in Scotland? Did you know that leprechauns used to wear red and not green? Did you know that there is only one Phoenix alive at a time...
Students will improve their understanding of monsters, creatures, beasts, and beings from various cultures, myths and legends.. Students will work on critical thinking and literary analysis through collaborative group discussion and interactive activities.
I have been challenging and elevating students for over 10 years to delve deeply into the issues of our past and wrestle with the realities of our present and future. Each conversation will be open and honest but guided with the necessary care for students of this age. I believe it is our job as educators to not teach children what to think- but how to think and allow them to unearth the truths that are often hidden within the words of pages.
