In this 4 day camp learners will be introduced to the guitar. This camp is designed for beginners who have had little to no experience with the guitar. Each day new skills and songs will be introduced, learners will learn how to strum, form basic chords, transition between chords, play songs, and read chord charts. I have two bachelors degrees in music (BA in Music and BM in Music Therapy). As part of my music therapy program I spent a lot of time with my guitar (it is easy to transport and great to accompany singing!). I enjoy playing the guitar and teaching young learners to be excited about the guitar as well!
Learners should bring a guitar to class (classical, acoustic, electric). They should be sitting on the floor or in a chair without arms to allow them to hold the guitar properly. It is also helpful if I am able to see their hands, especially the left hand, to be able to monitor proper finger placement and offer feedback.
