고대 미스터리 탈출실: 파라오의 보물을 얻으세요

You receive a mysterious letter in the mail that reads: 

If correctly you respond,
The pharaoh's treasures lie beyond
The door of wonders waiting there.
Solve the puzzles, if you dare.
To win the riches of the king,
You must answer everything.
If you cannot leave the room,
You will surely meet your doom.

"What treasure?" you wonder. Whoever sent the letter must know you can't pass up a good mystery. Intrigued, you decide to show up at the location and time indicated on the back of the papyrus sheet.

In this escape room challenge, students will be "locked" in a mysterious white room with three locked doors and three items: an envelope, an old briefcase, and a safe. In order to escape the room and win the prize, they must solve a series of puzzles, each leading to the next clue. Only by revealing the contents of each of their items and solving each puzzle will they be able to successfully escape.

The puzzles are designed to test students' logic skills as well as practice addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Students should be able to add and multiply two-digit numbers (calculators are okay if needed!). 

To aid in their escape, students will have a handout that will help them organize and solve some of the puzzles, such as a key to decipher the ancient Egyptian hieroglyphics and boxes to help them recreate and solve the math pyramid problems. Some knowledge of ancient Egyptian mythology is helpful, but not required.

Please note: The amount of time it takes to solve this escape room can vary by group. I will provide hints to ensure that it is completed within an hour. If the escape room is solved quickly, I will add extra riddles and trivia at the end of class.
