During this course, no live meetings will be held. Instead, students will be able to watch a brief video each day containing songs and chants that will help them learn the names and sounds of each letter of the alphabet. They will then be presented with a daily "challenge" to play with, build, talk about, or present something starting with the letter of the day. Students will learn the names and sounds of the letters of the alphabet, as well as some words beginning with (or containing) each letter.
I have a Bachelor's degree in both Early Childhood and Elementary Education. I have taught preschool and kindergarten and have young children of my own. I know and have seen that children learn best through play, as well as music. I believe this means that even when they are learning "academics" they can do it in a fun and engaging way. I am excited to offer this class so that parents and students alike can gain ideas for play even as they learn together.
I have tried to make the challenges and activities things that students can do with things that they have at home. If there are materials that students may need to buy to complete, they will be of minimal cost.
