This is a 3-Day Series. Students will meet 3 times to complete Part 3. Please note: Classes will meet 3 times within the same week for Summer Break & Winter Holiday weeks. Students will learn the fundamentals of traditional Chinese brush ink painting, its principles, techniques, subject matters and styles. Xieyi (freehand) style will be demonstrated. Week 1Lesson 1Intro & Naming SeasonsStudent will acquire Mandarin vocabularies while practicing Chinese calligraphy with characters of the four seasons.Lesson 2Describing WeatherStudents will learn double-syllable adjectives to describe the weather of the four seasons. They will paint a hot summer painting, using Diluting Ink & Color Layering techniques learned in Part 2.Lesson 3Describing Seasonal Weather with Particle "de"Students will revisit the grammatical structure of using adjectives and the particle "de" to modify nouns. They will learn how to describe different seasons in short phrases. Student will learn the frequently-used negative space technique to paint a cold winter scene where they will reinforce their skills of diluting ink and color layering from previous lessons.
