It can be scary to find out your child is behind in reading, especially if you don't know how to help. If it's already hard for them, will tutoring be stressful? Students will learn to decode words using systematic, explicit phonics instruction. They will also learn high-frequency words. These are words that are so commonly used that they are taught separately. Some do not follow phonics rules (they are sometimes called "heart words"), and those will be taught with clear explanations as to how the word works.

Learners will need a small dry erase board and dry erase markers. These can be found at the Dollar Tree store for just $1.25 each (last I checked). Please also have your child wear headphones that include a microphone (or be sure the sound is clear).
