수업 소개

영어 수준 - 알 수 없음
미국 5학년 - 12학년 학년
Each learner will be expected to bring a copy of their math assignment to each class session. This may be a digital or a hardcopy. A Math For The Middles tutor will review the homework assignment and go through the assignment with them for the duration of the class session. If an assignment is completed early, then the tutor will provide additional exercises of practice to either reinforce the topic or dive into a deeper level of the topic for advanced learning. Our goals during each session is for learners to build their math self-esteem and feel proud of their work.

The following topics are available for homework review:

6th, 7th, and 8th Grade Number Operations
•	Add, subtract, multiply, and divide rational numbers (positive and negative decimals, fractions, and integers)
•	Develop transition from conceptually understanding rational numbers to developing rules and procedural fluency of rational operations
•	Convert fractions to decimals using division
•	Define rational and irrational numbers
•	Convert a decimal expansion which repeats to a rational number
•	Estimate irrational numbers
•	Compare the size of irrational numbers

•	Multiply exponents with the same base
•	Divide exponents with the same base
•	Raise an exponent to an exponent
•	Evaluate square roots
•	Convert values to scientific notation
•	Perform operations with scientific notation values

About Math For The Middles
We believe math is not something you watch, it's something you do! Therefore, all courses with Math For The Middles involve students engaging with mathematical content and an opportunity for individualized feedback within the lesson. Our courses center around 6th, 7th, and 8th grade math curricula. We offer monthly math based elective courses and ranging from/stem utilizing math in STEAM/STEM to core math principles incorporated in Financial Literacy

Danielle Jones, Founder of Math For The Middles
I am a holistic and proud urban math teacher intentionally using my classroom influence to empower students from all walks of life. My organization's objective is to build life-long learners equipped to detect and conquer the explicit and implicit math seamlessly absorbed into our everyday lives. We strive to supply a palpable meaning and use to a contents' existence that can either empower you or disenfranchise your life long decision making skills. Math For The Middles' motto is, "Enlighten, Empower, Release and Repeat". My professional background includes over 6 years of teaching a combination of middle school and high school Pre Algebra and Algebra 1. Throughout my career I've been awarded Student Mentorship Awards and Teacher of the Month. I am also 2x finalist for teacher of Teacher of the Year in my building.

What's our take on "NEW MATH" aka Common Core?
Truthfully, we don't believe there is a new math. Math exists with or without our acknowledgement.
However, we understand the frustration. At Math For The Middles, our strategies are based in mathematical accuracy. Learners are taught to conceptually understand concepts, become fluent with procedures and algorithms and best of all be able to reason mathematically. This means we use whatever strategy works best for enrolled learners and we do not exclude any methods that hold up mathematically nor exclusively use only one method. "It's okay to carry the one with us😉"
