Students will learn how to plan a novel including world building and character development, outlining and plot mapping, and general novel organization.
Students will prepare for writing.
Students will begin writing a first draft of a novel

I am a self-published author with over 15 years experience with creative writing and story-telling. 
I am also a certified teacher that has taught the basics of creative writing for 5 years.

Students will be expected to work on their novels outside of class, focusing on either the topic discussed in class or moving forward with whatever task feels appropriate to them in regards to their novel. This could include starting to write or working on other areas of the planning provided in the notebook resource.

We will be referring to the Worlds Without End website, the "genre" section during a live class and students will be encouraged to review it in their own time. This is so that we can discuss the genre for their novel and provide clear understanding in order for students to clearly identify the genre of their novel.
