NO LIVE MEETINGS - FLEX CLASS In this flex 4 week lesson introduction to keyboarding class, students will be introduced to the computer keyboard to learn touch typing, which is typing without looking. Students will build the foundation of correct typing techniques by learning all the letter keys, punctuation, utilizing all ten fingers. Learn to type the correct way! Practicing the wrong way can be dangerous, as bad habits tend to crop up when you’re under pressure. And they are much harder to correct later. 💥Accuracy and Proper Technique is our #1 Priority💥 Lesson 1️⃣ - Getting Started In this lesson students will be using the finger reach method, introduce index and middle finger letter keys, Space Bar, and proper posture 🔴 J, F, and Space 🔴 U, R, and K Keys 🔴 D, E, and I Keys 🔴 C, G, and N Keys Lesson 2️⃣ - Reaching Out In this lesson students will be using the finger reach method, introduce beginning punctuation and more index, middle, ring, and pinky finger letter keys 🔴 T, S, and L Keys 🔴 O, B, and A Keys 🔴 V, H, and M Keys 🔴 Period and Comma Lesson 3️⃣ - The Home Stretch In this lesson students will learn the remainder of the letter keys and Enter Key 🔴 W, X, and ; Keys 🔴 Q, Y, and P Keys 🔴 Z and Enter Keys Lesson 4️⃣ - Wrapping Up In this lesson students will complete an extended review of the letters from the previous lesson, followed by a 3 minute typing assessment. 🔴 Beginner Wrap-up 🔴 Beginner Assessment Help to improve your typing skills for essays, lessons, stories, assignments, coding and more. When you learn a new movement, your brain creates a memory of the pieces that make up that movement and stores it in your cerebellum. Scientists call this motor learning. Committing typing to muscle memory frees you from devoting mental energy to thinking about each letter as you type it. You’ll be able to focus on the content of what you’re typing rather than thinking about (or looking for) the next key to press. When your fingers just know where to go, it’s very relaxing. Technology has improved our lives in many ways. Students began using technology at a young age, unfortunately bad keyboarding habits developed during those times. It is crucial that students learn touch typing the correct way early, to avoid repeating bad touch typing / keyboarding habits. It takes a lot of practice to learn to type. Everyone learns to type at their own unique pace and speed. Not all students will be working on the exact same lesson during class. This is a live class but it is an individual student paced. The course will consist of short lectures, demonstrations, and individual work. 🍎Mrs. Lisa T. - Hello, my name is Mrs. Lisa and I'm an experienced educator with a diverse background. My areas of expertise and certification include Kindergarten through 6th grade teacher, 7th and 8th grade all four core areas, Gifted and Talented Teacher and Director of Education, Special Education Grades 4 through 12 specialist as well as building principal for PreK through 8th grade. During Covid shutdowns and quarantines I discovered that my students and I loved the online platform. I taught in a one to one school. Every student had a laptop as well as a school hotspot if their family asked for one. I chose not to do the minimum "office hours" as my school required. I felt this did not meet my students' needs. I ran an online classroom during regular school hours as well as recorded the class for those students who were unable to connect with us or needed to hear the lesson more than once. My experience as a principal resulted in greatly improved learning for all students. The gifted students improved as well as those with learning disabilities. I believe in high expectations for all. High expectations that are attainable
