Instruction will be teacher-led, with students will being encouraged to respectfully interact with both the teacher and other students in every session. Speech will be modeled, then students asked to practice the skill immediately as an informal assessment. Since speech is inherently interactive, controlled conversation will be encouraged between teacher and student, as well as student to student. Teaching will include teacher instruction, on-screen slides and video clips. We will focus on letter sounds, word pronunciations, vocabulary, verb tense, sentence structure and appropriate diction overall. Because the hardest part of learning English is learning to hear, discriminate and produce the sounds in the language, Speech and Language with Midge uses tracks during each lesson. Tracks are exercises that focus on a single topic or theme and continue over a series of lessons. Eight major sentence types must be mastered in order to speak English properly. Three of those 8 will be covered in this course. They are: 1. Singular Identity: This is a ___. This is not a ____. 2. Plural Identity: These are ____. These are not ____s. 3. Actions-Present Tense: I am ____ing. You are ____ing. ____ is/are ____ing. ____ is/are not ____ing. Activities by week: Week #1: Show and Say (Pronunciation) Introductions: "My name is ____. Identity: book, cup Actions: clap, nod, smile Counting: 1, 2, 3, 4 Identity: boy, shoe Questions: What is my name? My name is ____. Week #2: Review and New Vocabulary: shoe, cup, boy, book, my, name, teacher, clap, nod, smile Introductions: My name is ____. Actions: clap, nod, smile Review: book, cup New: sentences - Stand up. Sit down. Counting: one, two three, four (rote and on fingers) Week #3: Review and New Review: over last 2 weeks Vocabulary: a teacher, a student, a boy. Sentence Formation: This is a ____. Counting: various objects and rote. New nouns/articles - a student, a pencil, a girl, a chair Sentences to build on: I am, You are Week 4: Review and New Review over the last 3 weeks vocabulary: dog, cat, car, wave Sentence formation (build on I am/You are sentences: I am/You are ____ing. (wave, nod, clap) Overall Patterns: Pronunciation: sounds, words and sentences (ex.. "eee", "this", "This is a bee.") Answering questions: "What is this?" (ex. a book) and "Say the whole thing." (ex. This is a book.) Yes-no questions: "Is this a (book)? Yes./No. Negatives (not): "Is this a book?" (No) "Say the whole thing." (No, this is not a book.) Counting: "Count the cups." (ex. "one cup, two cups, three cups..." etc.) This and these: (ex. "This is a cup." "These are cups.") Various vocabulary will be utilized with the patterns listed above.

WELCOME LEARNERS AND PARENTS!
If you or your student is struggling with below level skills, I can help! I am an accelerated reading. writing and mathematics specialist holding multiple teaching certificates in two states, who was a homeschooling mom for 10 years. I have taught in public and private schools for 18 years and continue to serve all ages, grades, and skill levels, from students with varying degrees of autism to the naturally advanced, from Pre-K through College level.
In a Nutshell:
Accelerated Learning Specialist and World Class Tutor, 15+ years synchronous and asynchronous teaching in national and international classroom environments. Implements superior coursework in English Language Arts (ELA), English Language Learners (ELL), literacy, mathematics, music, African-American History, and life skills. Master academic diagnostician with 30+ years diagnosing learning inadequacies Consistently delivers more than one grade level growth per academic year (meaning students can achieve YEARS of skills in only MONTHS), learners advance rapidly beyond the norm, far exceeding expectations of many popular methodologies. For example:
Students can:
*Go from non-reader to reading at mid-second grade level in only 65 lessons
*Grow from mid- 2nd grade level to 4th grade level in only 65 lessons
*Grow from 4th to 5th grade level in only 65 lessons
*Grow from 5th to 7th grade reading level in only 125 lessons
My job is to clear clutter and confusion, fill learning gaps and teach each skill to mastery. And to do it all while having fun! My results consistently produce more than one year's skill growth in less than one academic year, thereby increasing self-confidence and joy in student learners and appreciation in parents.
Using a unique combination of technology and scientifically proven results-based methodologies developed over many years of teaching experience, all student learners consistently receive a world-class opportunity for growth year after year.
VALUES/PHILOSOPHY
My personal values are integrity, honor, respect of family, learner, and parent. My philosophy is to do the work done, with minimal mistakes and succeed. Values modeled to all student learners are 1) respect for every person, 2) to treat others as you want to be treated, and 3) to be readily accessible to parents.

FUN FACTS
An adept cook, I passed on my culinary skills to my oldest daughter, now a pastry chef proudly serving our FBI and DEA personnel at Quantico, Virginia.
I lift weights twice a week to remain strong and agile. I also sit on an exercise ball to teach all online classes.
A lifelong singer, at one point in my vocal ‘career’ I was a member of 20 choirs at the same time! These days, I make up songs for my infant granddaughter, born during COVID-19.
