Communication is an important element of life. Oral communication can be challenging for many people. Being able to articulate your thoughts, enunciate your opinions and have good diction all result in being able to get the words out of your mouth in a clear manner. It is a muscle that can be trained and worked on through exercise and practice. There is power in being able to communicate orally. There is a confidence that a person has when their words are understood. I created this class because I want children to have that confidence and power. 

This is a 20 minute, 1:1 class where I will focus on the needs of the individual student. The first 5 minutes will consist of facial stretches to loosen tension in the jaw and relax the face and tongue. The remaining 15 minutes will consist of tongue twisters and verbal exercises. We will practice a variety of tongue twisters (ranging from two words to the length of a paragraph) and sometimes may recite old English text or poetry. This class will meet three times over the course of a week. Each class will have a new set of tongue twisters to review, explore and recite. The goal is for the student to get ample amount of repetition and practice with verbal exercises to improve their confidence and diction skill sets. Practice is the key!

This class is for a small group, 2-3 students, who still want that one on one practice.

My approach and experience come from an acting background and these are exercises that I do myself on a regular basis. With the one-on-one class, if there is a particular letter sound that is difficult for the student, I can find tongue twisters and exercises that cater to that specific sound if need be.
