CONTENT
White Fang provides several opportunities for rich analytical discussion.
Class discussion will revolve around the following novel-centered concepts over the following topics:
    - Brutality
    - Animal Abuse
    - Masculinity
    - Endurance
    - Survival
    - Literary Naturalism
    - Instinct
    - Primitivism

TEACHING STYLE
    - I want my students to discuss, interact, and learn from each other! Every chance I get, I will encourage them to respond to other’s ideas
    - I hope to facilitate conversation, protect think-time, and pose questions that provoke deeper thought based on the central text
    - I hope that students feel as welcomed to think as they are challenged in their thinking.
    - While I will challenge students to think deeply, their perspective will always be encouraged and celebrated
    - I love interacting with my students! I will be apart of the conversation as well 😁
    - Lecture-style lessons will be taught to ensure all students comprehend concepts and themes
    - Tied to all of my literature courses is an exclusive private tutoring session on Fridays for only $10. When students sign up the course, they will be given a link to that session that they can attend when needed for homework help and instructor-guidance on papers and reading
    - The idea of providing a grade and then moving on is not my style. If a student is willing to persevere, I want to keep working with them until the learning goals have been achieved

SEXUAL CONTENT - A pack of wolves is described as being driven by two appetites: hunting and love-making VIOLENCE - Brutal survival and "primitive law" is explored - Two men are hunted by a pack of wolves. One runs behind a hill in pursuit and it is inferred that he is eaten (not graphically described, but the scene is ominous) - A dog is beaten severely and explicitly by several masters. It is also forced into a dog ring to brutally fight and kill other dogs (NOTE: [spoiler warning] while the tone of the narrator is objective at these events, it is eventually understood that these beatings are immoral, as the dog is saved by a loving master who nurtures it back to proper health) - Wolves and dogs are shot for fighting RACISM SEXISM AND SOCIAL NEGATIVITIES - Racist slurs including sq*aw and n*ggardly - An antagonist mentions the titles of several white supremacy books he enjoys - A wolf observes white humans as having superior power to Native American humans (NOTE: while still problematic, this observation comes down to the wolf perceiving their tools/technology as more advanced ie guns) - A Native American man is tricked out of selling his prize dog by being given whiskey to the point of drunkenness (NOTE: these themes will be warned of and acknowledged as entirely problematic) PROFANITY - Racist slurs including: - sq*aw - n*ggardly (NOTE: the etymology of this word reveals that it is not related to the racial slur n*gger, however, due to the similarity of sound, it is still not acceptable and will be labeled as such) DRUGS/ALCOHOL - A Native American man is tricked out of selling his prize dog by being given whiskey to the point of drunkenness - Smoking is depicted throughout
