What are sight words?
Sight words and high-frequency words are common words that appear frequently in written texts. These words are often not easily decodable using regular phonetic rules and are usually memorized by sight. Sight words are important for early readers because they make up a significant portion of the words they encounter in their reading materials. These words are often taught in early literacy programs and are emphasized in early reading instruction.
