This class is an exciting and hands-on way to learn about the features that makes animals unique! Each class will start with a show and tell and discussion of the animal of the week (see schedule below). Then, we will transition into our experiment or activity. We will follow the format below:

   1. Show and tell
   2. Discuss any personal experience with the animal of the week
(Have you seen it in the wild? Is it a pet? Have you observed it in a zoo?)
   3. Video, pictures, or live-stream view of the animal
   4. Hands-on S.T.E.A.M activity
   5. Closure and animal requests

Activities will utilize some common household and craft supplies. See the supply list for suggestions. There will be a weekly classroom post detailing materials needed for the following week.

Students will get the chance to interact and ask questions throughout class. We will discuss the steps of the scientific method or engineering design process in a casual and no-pressure way as we model the steps during the activity of the week. Each week is independent, so new learners can drop in any time!

Hello! My passion is teaching young students the importance and fun in science, technology, engineering, art, and math. I am a certified k-12 science teacher with a master’s in biology. I believe in hands-on learning and appealing to young learners’ interests to help them find their passion for STEAM! I’m a big animal lover and have been on an African safari three times! My idol is Jane Goodall, and I was fortunate enough to visit her chimpanzee sanctuary one of my trips!
