Welcome To More Warrior Queens! Throughout history, there have been some incredible and fierce women who have led their people, ruled with the utmost of authority, and challenged every social and gender norm around them. In this class, we will learn about what made them so iconic. We will discuss how their lives would be different if they had been born in different times and cultures and what shaped them into achieving their goals.In this class, we will learn about 12 different fearless women, a brief history about the what was going on in the world around them, how they ruled and and what impact they left on their society. Some of the topics covered might be a bit graphic for younger students (violence, sex).

Week 3-  The Mirabal Sisters - Writers and Revolutionaries from the Dominican Republic
Week 4 - Mai Bhago - Sikh warrior
Week 5 -  Empress Myeongseong - Empress of Korea 
Week 6 - Yoshiko Kawashima - Princess Spy
Week 7 - Tomyris - Massagetean ruler
Week 8 - Ching Shih - Chinese pirate
Week 9 - Kwalah bint al-Azwar - Muslim warrior
Week 10 - Qiu Jin - Woman Warrior
Week 11 - Petra Herrera - Mexican Revolutionary
Week 12 - Malinche - Translator and Guide in Mexico


Each week, by Wednesday evening (9pm PST) -

-I will email each student a link that weeks lecture and assignments. This will be on YouTube and is in a private account that is embedded into the Outschool classroom page.  
-  Assignments will consist of discussion and essay questions, short research topics, Youtube videos, and worksheets. These will be posted on the classroom page. 
- In my flex classes, each family can determine the level of participation in the course. 
- Communication will be done through the Outschool classroom.  
-I will check in with each student several times during the week to check on progress of the homework, address any questions, or to engage in a discussion about the topic covered. Each student is encouraged to message (through the Outschool classroom) me anytime they have any questions or thoughts about the class.  
- Each week, there may be additional articles, videos, or pictures that will be posted to the classroom page to engage students in open conversations about that weeks topic.
