This course is a continuation from Part I, where students will strengthen their essay-writing skills and master four essential essay formats: Classification, Personal Narrative, Research, and Cause and Effect. If your child has already completed Part I or has experience with formal essay writing, this course will help them refine their skills and gain confidence in academic writing.

What Your Child Will Learn:
Week 1: Classification Essay
Students will learn to develop a detailed outline, structure paragraphs, and write a comprehensive classification essay.

Week 2: Personal Narrative
Students will craft a personal narrative using prompts to express their unique experiences.

Week 3: Research Paper
Students will learn to conduct research, support claims with evidence, and properly format citations in MLA and APA styles.

Week 4: Cause and Effect Essay
Students will develop a cause and effect essay, offering solutions to problems through logical reasoning.

 Objective: Student will learn how to develop a detailed outline.  Part 1 focused on the basic outline structure.
Student will practice structuring paragraphs (topic sentence, main idea, thesis statements, concluding/transitional sentences, and the upside down conclusion).
Student will learn how to develop and write a classification essay.

𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗝𝗮𝗱𝗲 (𝗙𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿):
I started my path to teaching in college when I volunteered with AmeriCorps.  I went on to teach in traditional public schools after I completed my M.Ed and received my teaching license, but I quickly learned the school environment was not the ideal setting for myself or my child.  That is when I transitioned to homeschooling and teaching online.  I have been teaching writing course for fifteen years.  My primary objective in each class is to help the learners feel comfortable and gain confidence in their writing.

All Academy teachers have experience and background in providing writing instruction with continued professional development and training.
