Overview:
This one-on-one essay writing tutoring session provides students with personalized guidance in developing their writing skills. Each session is tailored to the student's unique needs and learning style, focusing on building confidence, improving structure, and refining analytical and persuasive writing techniques. Designed for students seeking help with school assignments, college applications, or standardized test essays, this class empowers writers to articulate ideas clearly and effectively.

Topics Covered:
-Essay Structure: Crafting a compelling introduction, developing body paragraphs, and concluding effectively.
-Thesis Development: Formulating a strong, arguable thesis and supporting it consistently throughout the essay.
-Evidence and Analysis: Integrating evidence and providing analysis to strengthen arguments.
-Writing Style: Improving tone, clarity, and vocabulary appropriate to the essay's purpose.
-Revision Techniques: Strategies for editing, from grammar to logical flow.
-Time Management: Planning and structuring under timed conditions, if applicable to tests.

Class Structure: 
Each session begins with a review of the student's goals and recent assignments or writing samples to assess strengths and areas for improvement. The lesson will then focus on specific writing techniques or areas that need the most attention. If the student has a particular essay to work on, the session will involve reviewing the prompt, brainstorming, drafting, and revising with live feedback. Each class concludes with a summary of key takeaways and specific, actionable steps for the student to continue improving.

Teaching Style: 
I utilize a supportive, interactive teaching style that encourages students to ask questions and develop their unique voice. Lessons are conversational and adaptable, providing instruction in a way that is encouraging and supportive of each student’s progress.  There is an emphasis on understanding the “why” behind techniques to build long-term writing skills and confidence.

Student-Teacher Interaction: 
Student and teacher engage actively throughout each session, with the use of guided questions and the student expressing ideas or writing solutions aloud. This back-and-forth helps the student refine their thoughts and problem-solve writing challenges in real time. Constructive feedback is provided on drafts, with the student encouraged to revise and improve their work during the session. My aims is to foster a safe, respectful space for the student to express and develop ideas confidently.
