深海の生物 | 海の不気味な秘密！

What lies in the deepest parts of the ocean? Deep sea creatures are remarkably well adapted for the extreme conditions below the thermocline. In this class, students will learn about this intense ecosystem and the weird critters that inhabit it.

We will learn about everything from deep sea trenches to chemosynthesis to bioluminescence to deep sea gigantism, discussing many animals including blobfish, goblin sharks, hatchetfish, giant squids, giant isopods, yeti crabs, anglerfish, giant tube worms, and many more! Each Monday, a pre-recorded video (touching on the basics of the scheduled topics) will be posted for students to watch. In addition, supplemental videos, homework assignments, tasks, fun activities, and discussion questions will be posted. Students who diligently complete the assignments and tasks will get the most out of the course. Throughout the course, I will facilitate online discussions in the Outschool classroom. This will allow students to discuss what they are learning with me. I will be in the classroom frequently discussing with students and providing feedback.
