Sharing and Celebration

Teaching Style-
I believe in student-centered learning and the importance of structure in a classroom. I set classroom agreements to help create a safe, fun, inspiring space for all students to feel supported, want to participate, and learn. I encourage participation but do not force it. I use materials to help students connect and find interest.

Interaction-
I encourage participation throughout the class through both the chat and verbal. I make sure to answer all questions and call on all students who wish to participate. Students will interact with each other through discussion and when sharing their writing.

Prior Experience-
Students do not need prior knowledge or experience with creative writing to learn and/or enjoy this class.

学習到達目標

Students will create a one-of-a-kind personal zine.

Nearpod- I use Nearpod (a free website) in all of my classes to provide interactive ways for students to engage in the material. My lessons may include educational YouTube videos in the Nearpod lesson. Students can only see and engage with the videos and materials I choose. I guide them through the lesson. Nearpod also allows students to annotate the texts we're reading, listen to the text if they are auditory learners, and interact with each other through a collaborative board. These activities are only available during class and while I am on-site with them.
受講に必要なもの
Students will need to have access to lined and white or colored paper, magazines or photos that can be cut up, scissors, glue, and art supplies (colored pencils, paint, markers- whatever you have on hand), pencils, and pens. Optional supplies include washi tape, stickers, glitter pens, stamps, and other crafting supplies.

I received my Secondary English teaching license in 2004. Since then, I have taught in public schools, private schools, and online. I currently teach ELL, ELA, and creative writing to students ages 4-84. My teaching style is encouraging and creative. I want my students to learn how they learn best, to feel supported, and for reading and writing to be enjoyable.
