Students will be able to identify symbolism and other literary elements within the novel to use for analysis in discussions and in written responses.

Students will be able to analyze the meaning of hidden messages through the literary elements that the author includes in the novel.

Students will be able to use their own analyses and discussions to analyze a film as a separate but similar literary piece as the written novel that they have already read.

Students will be able to compose an essay comparing and contrasting a film based on a novel.

I have taught several variations of film to novel comparisons throughout my professional teaching career including "The Crucible", "To Kill a Mockingbird", "Romeo and Juliet", "The Odyssey" and "O' Brother Where Art Thou?", and more.

Each week, students will have reading assignments and analysis assignments to complete. The classroom will have links to all assignments and sets of notes if students are struggling with literary elements, techniques, or concepts. Discussions will take place on the classroom board whereas assignments will be sent with attached links to the teacher to return with feedback and commentary.
