週1時間. After each session, students will be expected to independently implement comments from our discussion. Students are highly encouraged to experiment, take risks, make mistakes and learn along the way. There are no wrong answers, just progress.

Building off the skills and knowledge gained from Architecture and Design Level 1 we will begin to layer nuance to the design decisions that we make.  As a designer it is critical that we are able to justify and support the choices that we make with purpose and reason.  Our next project challenges students to use a reference subject as inspiration to develop and convey meaning through a unique form language.

Much like a chess game, there is an incredibly large number of possible paths and solutions to a single objective.  The aim of Architecture and Design Level 2 is to illustrate 8 moves of a chess game within an axonometric cube.  To do so, we will definitely stretch your creativity and critical thinking.  Students progress through a series of small exercises that asks them to break down the larger goal into smaller components that eventually compliment and support one another.  We will define the game's boundaries, address movements and construct unique geometries.  The end result being an engineered work of art.

Along the way, we will continue to emphasize the design thinking principles of creativity, critical analysis, reflection and iterations.

This course is setup to be a personalized hybrid learning environment.  Students will be provided with specific directions, feedback and expectations.  During each session, progress will be reviewed and assessed, setting up students to work independently until the following session.  Our intro class will be a little longer to provide all the necessary background and foundations.  Subsequent classes can range between 15-35 mins, depending on the student's needs.  Most students complete the project throughout roughly 10 sessions, however, there is plenty of opportunities to customize as desired. 

As part of the course, students will be using CAD.  Students will need to download and install Rhino3d; professional software used and taught by top architecture universities including MIT, Harvard and UC Berkeley.  The software includes a free 30-day trial, however, all currently enrolled students will have access to an educational license.

Our CAD software, Rhino3d requires a computer running Windows or MacOS.  Chromebooks , iPads and tablets unfortunately will not.  Please plan accordingly.
