Welcome to book club with American Girl Molly McIntire. Of all the books I read as a child, American Girl books are my favorite! I'm very excited to share these stories with another generation of children! We will read 6 books entitled: 1) Meet Molly, 2) Molly Learns a Lesson, 3) Molly's Surprise, 4) Happy Birthday, Molly, 5) Molly Saves the Day, and 6) Changes for Molly. Students will spend time reading on their own. Together we will answer comprehension questions, compare Molly's life to our own lives, learn and practice using vocabulary words from the book, and discuss elements of the story like plot (creating plot diagrams), characters, setting, conflict, and resolution.

Reading a book a week. These books are short chapter books (in my publication about 60 pages each with large print). It is acceptable for learners to read the books independently, listen to them read aloud, or take turns reading aloud with a partner or adult.評価が提供されます

Learners will need their own copies of all 6 of Molly's stories. This can be purchased or borrowed in two formats: bound together as "Molly's Story Collection" or independently as 6 separately bound books entitled: "Meet Molly," "Molly Learns a Lesson," "Molly's Surprise," "Happy Birthday, Molly," "Molly Saves the Day," and "Changes for Molly." These books are written by: Valerie Tripp Illustrated by: Nick Backes
Molly's stories are set during World War II. Her father is away serving as a doctor in the Army. In the book, Happy Birthday, Molly, we meet a girl from England who talks about how her experiences living through the bombing of London. The war is mentioned in several books and they do briefly refer to the fact that people are hurting and being killed too. However, there aren't any graphic descriptions of the brutalities of war. In the book Molly's Surprise, the author implies but never states that Santa is not real. She talks about how Christmas will be different and how "mom and dad" usually do things that they can't do this year.
