Any work that will be turned in for grades/scores, will be in the form of a Google Doc. Students will need to share the document with the teacher and other students will not have access to the document. A Google Spreadsheet will be shared with each student in order to track progress when an assignment is graded/scored. It is encouraged to have the readings and assignments done by each due date so students can participate in discussions together. To give each student a more meaningful learning experience, all students need to participate in the discussion questions by responding to the questions and giving feedback to other students. Students will interact with one another through written discussion questions and activities posted on the Outschool classroom page. Some examples of activities are Kahoot and Boom Cards. Hello!
My name is Chelsea. I am an Iowa certified teacher in Elementary Education (K-6) with endorsement areas in Reading, Language Arts, Social Studies, and ESL. I have previously taught middle school English Language Arts and I currently teach ESL/ELL in a brick and mortar school. I loved teaching middle school and teaching on Outschool allows me to stay connected with the older elementary, middle school, and high school learners. Outschool also allows me to use my current elementary expertise when teaching younger learners.
Teaching at a brick and mortar school with 1:1 technology, I have learned different strategies to keep learners engaged. I like to include online games or online activities in my classes to help learners stay engaged with the content.
Many of my courses incorporate a lot of strategies that are not only good for ESL/ELL students, but for ALL students. You will see many SDAIE (Specially Designed Academic Instruction in English) used throughout my courses.
