18 授業時間宿題:
週あたり 1-2 時間. Students will be asked to complete all of their reading outside of class. If some of our writing work is unfinished after class, students will be asked to complete that work outside of class as well. But the majority of work will be completed in class.テスト
Students will be given several formal writing assignments throughout the semester. While these are not tests, per se, they can be used as assessment pieces for homeschooling evidence, which many states and countries require. All formal writing in my class will be completed with multiple rounds of written and verbal feedback. Students will have the opportunity to work through their writing skills as a group and 1-1 with me in class!評価
Grading - Students will have the opportunity to receive a grade in the form of their choosing.I am happy to provide a grade in the form of a percentage, letter, or both. I can also offer a formal letter for submission to state programs. I ask students throughout the semester about their needs for grading and am happy to work with parents to create a plan that meets their needs! Please note that Grading is NOT required.この文章は自動翻訳されています

Throughout the semester, students will build a collaborative partnership by continuously working together while reading two novels and working through their analytical writing skills. The goal and purpose of this class are to give students a challenge to work with one another to read a novel; analyze the novel by working with plot, character, symbolism, theme, and more; participate in pop culture and historical connections with the text and its real-world applications; and to write various formal pieces where they analyze the text. Each week, students will be reading and writing (both in and out of class). Students will develop their communications skills, their teamwork skills, and their reading and writing skills, all of which are important later in life! Attached below is a schedule for the semester. While the skills will be covered the schedule may vary depending on the needs of the students and their interests. The class is based in students' needs and students' interests and therefore each class varies in its own unique and beautiful way! If you have questions, please let me know! *** Please note that while the course is designed with 7th-grade students in mind, I have a flexible age range. Students of varying ages are welcome if this class's curriculum, content, skills, teaching style, etc. fit their needs. I encourage all students and parents interested in my class to contact me with questions they might have! ***

For Anne of Green Gables:
Here is the Common Sense Media parental guide for your review. Please let me know if you have any questions!

In addition, there is some harmful language that can be found in the novel. The copyright owner has put out this statement:
"L.M. Montgomery Institute’s Statement on Racial Injustice
The L.M. Montgomery Institute (LMMI) supports the recent statement made by the University of Prince Edward Island and stands in solidarity with the Black Lives Matter movement and those fighting against systemic racism in Canada and the United States. Montgomery’s books, short stories, poetry, essays, and life writing inspire serious scholarly work and have inspired many around the world who have been persecuted and disenfranchised. However, her work also requires us to look deeper into issues of colonialism, systemic racism, and intolerance. The LMMI is taking steps to educate ourselves, and are committed to learning from, and working with, BIPOC scholars, authors, and readers, and reflecting that active engagement in our biennial conferences, the Journal of L.M. Montgomery Studies, and in our community outreach and projects".
In class, we will look deeper into these issues, discuss them together, and work together to understand them. If you have any questions or concerns, please ask and feel free to go to the L.M. Montgomery Institute's Website (found at this link) for more information: https://lmmontgomery.ca/lm-montgomery-institute%E2%80%99s-statement-racial-injustice
受講に必要なもの
Students will need to purchase the novels and have access to the literature pieces with copyrights. Some of the work we will be working with will be creative commons work or will be out of copyright. These we can access without an issue. All work we complete (the curriculum itself) is developed by me so there is no need to purchase a copyrighted curriculum!

I have been teaching professionally for over 5 years in both Missouri and in Colorado. I have been on Outschool since early January 2020 and can provide links to classes where I teach the concepts of this semester-long class so you can look through them and look at the reviews to see how other parents and students have reacted to my courses. I am happy to answer any questions that you have!
