Join me- an enthusiastic and qualified teacher- as I walk each learner through U.S. History in a way that is easy for learners to understand! New information is shared each Tuesday, and we review on Fridays! In just four weeks, we will cover events from before white settlers occupied North America, the formation of the Constitution, and the Civil War. The emphasis of this course is to discuss that many of our democratic values were derived from these times and events. This course supports...
Students will... -Understand how democratic values came to be, and how they have been exemplified by people, events, and symbols. -Explain that the U.S. government was formed by Americans who fought for independence from England. - Recognize cause/effect (cause/consequence) relationships throughout history. - List names of important historical figures. -Identify and explain the basic principles that Americans set forth in the documents that declared the nation’s independence from England and that created the new nation’s government. - Recognize the influence of new ideas. - Analyze how over the last 200 years individuals and groups in American society have struggled to achieve the liberties and equality promised in the principles of American democracy. - Describe continuity and change.
